Shelly Gunn M.D., Ph.D, Medical Director

Dr. Shelly Gunn is a board certified clinical pathologist specializing in genomic pathology. She earned combined MD/PhD degree from the UTHSCSA Medical School and Graduate School of Biomedical Science where she also completed her residency training. Dr. Gunn was Associate Professor in the department of Pathology at the UTHSC-San Antonio where she was Co-Director of the genomics laboratory. She has also served as Medical Director for Combimatrix Diagnostics in Irvine California, where she co-developed the oncology platforms used for clinical testing. Dr. Gunn is a recipient of the Association for Molecular Pathology’s Young Investigator Award for outstanding translational research and she has published numerous papers and abstracts related to developing DNA based genomic molecular evaluations as a clinical test. Her clinical focus is the delivery of personalized cancer care to patients through clinically relevant genomic testing of hematological malignancies and solid tumors, with a specialty in breast and brain cancer genome analysis.

Xavier T. Reveles, MS, Operations Director

Xavier Reveles is board certified by the American Society for Clinical Pathology as a clinical specialist in cytogenetics. Mr. Reveles received a Master’s Degree in biology/genetics_from the University of Incarnate Word. Before joining Oncopath laboratory, Mr. Reveles was Director of the Cytogenetics laboratory at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. His laboratory also served as a core facility to researchers at UTHSCSA-SA and for the San Antonio Cancer Institute – SACI. Mr. Reveles’ research endeavors have included the molecular evaluation of disease progression in prostate cancer, breast cancer, schizophrenia, diabetes, and other constitutional genetic syndromes along with several publications. Mr. Reveles also served as a Genomic Specialist for Combimatrix Diagnostics, Irvine, CA.
